Help! Which Bridesmaid Dresses Do I Choose?

Choosing Bridesmaid Dresses By Style

By Adrian Leighton It's a classic challenge for brides to find pretty bridesmaid dresses that your girls all agree on, and that fit within your budget! While there are no steadfast rules, there are a few guidelines that can help any bride find dresses that will look fantastic on the day! The purpose of this blog is to make it easier to choose the right dresses to suit everyone!

Know Your Styles Of Bridesmaid Dresses

Do you know all of the different styles of bridesmaid dresses? Thought not! A good starting point is learning which styles are which and who they will suit:

A-Line or Princess Dresses

These dresses are good options, especially if you have bridesmaids with differing body shapes. That's because this style flatters every size, as they offer a defined waistline and a skirt that doesn't hug hips and butt too closely. Let's look at an example of an A-line bridesmaid dress below:   Ruched V Neck Back Sash Bridesmaid Dress, Style Code: 10450, US$84.00 Ruched V Neck Back Sash Bridesmaid Dress, Style Code: 10450, US$84.00   And here's a princess bridesmaid dress:   Sweep/ Brush Train Ruffles Spaghetti Straps Princess Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 01960, US$79.00 Sweep/ Brush Train Ruffles Spaghetti Straps Princess Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 01960, US$79.00

Empire Dresses

This is also a 'go to' style for most maids. It's particularly friendly for shorter girls, as most empire dresses are all about vertical lines, which as you know, help the wearer look taller. The looser waist is also very forgiving and comfy for tummies! Let's take a look at one here:   Strapless Empire Chiffon Sleeveless Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 02803, US$104.00 Strapless Empire Chiffon Sleeveless Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 02803, US$104.00

Ball Gown Style

Ball gowns are a great choice for very traditional, formal weddings. It's a classic styles, and will look best on groups of girls who are all fairly similar in shape. Be warned, the full skirt can swamp shorter girls. Below you can see this style:   Ruffles Grays Sleeveless Satin Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 02887, US$109.00 Ruffles Grays Sleeveless Satin Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 02887, US$109.00

Sheath Dresses

Sheath dresses are a good pick for slimmer shapes, and are also one of the most forgiving styles for taller maids. They hug the body, and will look elegant and nice as long as they're not highlighting any problem areas. They're usually very different to wedding dresses, so they're good for making the bride stand out! Take a look at this style here:   Floor-length Ruffles Sweetheart Sleeveless Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 02924, US$69.00 Floor-length Ruffles Sweetheart Sleeveless Bridesmaid Dresses, Style Code: 02924, US$69.00 If you do have a group of bridesmaids who differ in shape, but you don't want to be constrained by one style of dress, why not dress them in different styles suited to their shapes, but in the same color?
