The 5 Features Of The Ideal Modest Wedding Dress

What Makes A Modest Wedding Dress?

what makes a modest wedding dress?
Choosing a modest wedding dress isn't unusual, and can often be because of many personal choices that the bride makes such as her taste, religion, or where she is from. Let's get one thing straight, modest does NOT mean dull or even mildy unfashionable. Just because strapless necklines that show off boobs and shoulders are en vogue, it doesn't mean that you can't choose a modest wedding dress and still look fantastic! But what is a modest wedding dress, and how easy are they to find these days when they are not necessarily in fashion? A modest wedding dress generally follows most or all of the following features:

1. High Neckline

This neckline will cover your chest and will not show any cleavage. You may see a little collarbone, but not much other than that. Typical necklines that you will find in modest wedding dresses are scoop, square, boat, and sweetheart. This dress is a good example of a square high neckline:

2. Long Skirts

A modest wedding dress won't be showing off a lot of leg, so long skirts are preferable. Trains are fine, so if that is a touch you'd like then go ahead! This wedding dress has a long skirt:

3. Sleeves

Because you are not choosing a strapless dress, sleeves are a must. However don't think that the sleeves need to be wrist-length, because they can actually be short, three quarter, or long in length. By having sleeves you can be sure that you will not expose your chest and too much neck. Here you can see that even short sleeves can offer good coverage:

4. No Thigh-High Slits

In the same way as point 3, you will also not want to show off your thighs. Therefore thigh-high slits aren't going to be OK for a modest wedding dress.

5. Covered Back

Many current wedding dresses have a totally open back. This won't fit in with your wish to have a modest wedding dress, so you'll need to choose styles that have a covered back.

Of course what each person sees as modest can be a personal choice, but in general you'll see that most wedding stores consider these 5 features to be modest. What kind of modest wedding dress do you like?
